Our Kura (School)

Set amidst farmland and native bush overlooking the Pacific Ocean, our school enjoys a sunny, north-facing position with stunning views. Our learning spaces include two warm, inviting classrooms with log burners and a well-resourced, purpose-built library. Our expansive grounds provide rich opportunities for exploration and play, including a tennis court, soccer field, playground, large sandpit, mature trees, forest pods, and even a pizza oven—encouraging hands-on, outdoor learning every day.

At the heart of our school is a strengths-based, child-centred approach that honours each learner’s identity, culture, and potential. Our programme is grounded in Te Ao Māori, with te reo Māori and tikanga woven naturally through daily learning, helping students build a strong sense of belonging and connection to place. We offer individualised learning programmes, including accelerated pathways in mathematics and literacy, while ensuring all tamariki are supported to succeed. We are inclusive of neurodiverse learners and are committed to going the extra mile to support each child’s learning and development, always focusing on recognising and growing their strengths.

Our highly qualified and dedicated teachers are supported by volunteer educators from within our community, who enrich learning and strengthen connections with whānau. Together, they create a learning environment that is engaging, inclusive, and responsive. We value both academic and social development, taking a holistic, hands-on approach that nurtures confident, capable learners.

As a small rural school, we foster a strong sense of whānau. Children aged 5 to 12 learn and play together, building tuakana-teina relationships that encourage leadership, collaboration, and care for one another. Our school is a valued hub for the communities of Long Beach, Pūrākaunui, and Osborne, with strong support that reflects the special character of our place.
